Summerland Camp

Mount Rainier National Park experiences heavy snowfall each winter, leading to trail and camp damage from melt-out and storms. Park Rangers and Trail Crews work to assess and repair these issues, with updates posted on the website. Backcountry permits are required year-round, and visitors should always check current weather and trail conditions before venturing out. Fires are not permitted in the wilderness.
